LAVMP’s Key Objectives and Goals

The key objectives and goals of La Crosse Area Veterans Mentor Program, Inc. (“LAVMP”) are as follows:

  • To identify Veterans with physical, behavioral health, substance use and other challenges who are involved in the criminal justice system or otherwise struggling with marriage, family, employment, housing and other issues.
  • To recruit, screen, train and appoint mentors for such Veterans and, where appropriate, refer them to the La Crosse Area Veterans Court (LAVC).
  • To educate courts, prosecutors, defense counsel, law enforcement personnel and the public about the unique challenges faced by Veterans, especially those who have served in combat.
  • To engage in fund-raising and other activities to support Veterans, their families and LAVC.
